About Veronica Monica's Music Blog

Who is Veronica Monica? I'm not much of anything other than a crazy - I can stop there- but might as well add music fanatic, living and breathing music 24/7, discovering new music as well as revisiting our music icons daily. My favourite genres are quite varied, and include classic rock, alternative rock, country, country rock, folk, folk rock, bluegrass, country folk, blues, blues rock, R&B, pop, soul, reggae, jazz, and heavy metal. Did I leave anything out? Oh yeah, rap, well you can even give me some of that too. I love electric guitar solos; Tom Morello and David Gilmour blow me away. I also love the sounds of the slide guitar and pedal steel; Gov't Mule's 15-minute cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man is mesmerizing. I'm so proud of Canadian, especially local music (Montreal). I also enjoy movie soundtracks and unplugged albums. My favourite pass-time is of course listening to music, reading and writing about music, artists and albums, staying on top of recent releases, new artists and bands, and talking music, music, and more music. The best part of enjoying music is sharing the love of music and great sound, passing along all the info you need to know even though my cousin Mo couldn't care less about the details, and passing along recommendations to friends and family, and just about anyone else willing to put up with me. There are some special people I'd like to thank, first my rockin' cousin Mo who introduced me to and taught me so much stuff on music over the last couple of years, my Toronto cousins Ron and Dov who first gave me the idea to start a blog, Ron for introducing me to the beauty of cover music and for turning me into a Leonard Cohen lover, Mo and Ron for putting up with my endless emails on music, Dov for asking me for my Top 10 New Go To Artists and sharing my recommendations, Audrey and Brandy for also saying I need to start a blog and for always asking when I'm gonna get it going, and thanks to Brandy for helping to finally get it going, and to you my long-time friend - you know who you are - thanks for our endless conversations on music. A special thanks to my know-it-all computer whiz nephew Raffi for putting up with my pathetic technical questions and constant demands, for creating this Facebook blog for me, and for posting an awesome guitar pic (which has since come down for a better one - sorry Raffi!). Last but not least, I cannot thank enough my new friend Mike who pushed me like crazy and gave me so much encouragement to start up this blog and to get it finally up and running, by a certain deadline LOL. Thanks to Mike as well for the photograph of Gabrielle La Rue of the up-and-coming Montreal band Guidestones (vocals and guitar). Hey musicians, do you have a new song you would like to share, an album release, or an upcoming gig to announce? If so, please send me a message and I will be more than happy to share and promote your song, album, or gig with others on this blog! Through this blog which I hope you'll like, I look forward to all your suggestions, comments and recommendations, great conversations, and most of all to loving music with you.
